Pathways Taekwondo was founded in the 1980s as Langlas’s Taekwondo and has remained dedicated to Taekwondo as a disciplined, lifelong practice. The school emphasizes steady development, expert coaching, and the integration of physical training with mental focus and personal responsibility.
Pathways Taekwondo is affiliated with the Universal Taekwondo Federation[1] (UTF), an organization established to preserve and advance Taekwondo as a civilian martial art. The UTF was founded on the teachings and vision of Grandmaster Han Cha Kyo, who emphasized Taekwondo as a practice for developing the whole person—not solely for competition or physical ability, but for right-action, self-awareness, and contribution to community life.
Central to Grandmaster Han’s vision is a set of seven tenets that guide training and behavior. These principles function as a practical code of conduct, shaping how students train, interact with others, and carry themselves beyond the Dojang:
● Courtesy – showing respect for instructors, peers, and oneself
● Integrity – acting honestly and taking responsibility for one’s actions
● Perseverance – continuing through challenge and sustained effort
● Self-Control – developing discipline in both action and emotion
● Indomitable Spirit – maintaining resolve and confidence in the face of difficulty
● Community Service – recognizing responsibility to others and contributing beyond oneself
● Love – approaching training and life with care, humility, and respect for humanity
These tenets are reinforced through consistent practice rather than treated as abstract ideas. Students learn them through discipline, effort, and example—in the school and in daily life.
Through its connection to the Universal Taekwondo Federation, Pathways Taekwondo follows a structured curriculum grounded in tradition, clear progression, and shared values. Pathways for Achievement reflects this continuity and depth, supporting students as they develop physical skill alongside confidence, focus, and character that carry into school, work, home, and the community.
Pathways Taekwondo is the DBA name for Pathways for Achievement, a 501(c)(3).
